Bernard Aubertin is a French artist born in 1934, known for his monochromatic red paintings. For the artist, the red paintings create a depersonalized, mediated experience, they symbolize fire and blood, while at the same time allowing him the space for anonymity. Aubertin joined the ZERO group in 1961, at which time he began to use fire in his work.

Bernard Aubertin lives and works in Reutlingen, Germany.
