  • Callum Innes - profile, abstract art, painting

Callum Innes is a Scottish abstract painter, whose monochrome paintings are characterized by color fields within geometric grids.

Influenced by Barnett Newman, Innes creates an ongoing series of paintings, titled Exposed Paintings. In this series, the artist engages in a process of addition and subtraction, layering pigments onto the canvas, then removing the oil paint with washes of turpentine.

Callum Innes is a former Turner Prize nominee and winner of the Jerwood Painting Prize.
