Manuel Robbe was a French painter and writer who was born in 1872 in Paris, France. During First World War he was signing his drawings under the pseudonym "Lafitte". He invented his own engraving technique known as “sugar-life,” using a mixture of sugar, India ink and gum Arabic on Zinc plates.
