Mural in Avdiivka

Avdiivka, Ukraine

Guido van Helten on the First Front Lines

Finishing the season on a high note, Guido Van Helten just finished a mural in ATO territory in Avdiivka, Ukraine, literally painting a piece on the first front line. Strapped with a bulletproof vest and a helmet, as well as surrounded by armed forces to cover his back, Guido van Helten depicted a local school teacher based on a photography made a few days prior to the start of the mural painting. The result is a fantastic mural of a women’s calm look, staring down on the horrors going on around her. If observed from up close, there are actually bullet holes present on the mural itself.
