Urban Renewal through Art

In April 2016, Mademoiselle Maurice participated in a project of urban regeneration located in Maryland Rail Station, the London Borough of Newham, east London. For that occasion, she created a new piece – titled Rainbow Road – composed of more than a thousand tiles, all hand painted with her characteristic colour palette. The motif for the mural was inspired by Beckett’s absurdist play Waiting for Godot, in which two people, Vladimir and Estragon, wait endlessly in a station for the arrival of someone who never arrives.
