An Alchemist can turn other materials into gold. Well that’s just what has happened at 1111 Lincoln Rd. Roma and Erika Cohen and designer Renee Gonzalez have taken a space on the fifth floor of a parking lot and turned it into haven for the jetset shopper looking looking to strike fashion gold in Miami
Perched sixty feet in the air like a floating cloud and open to the Miami Beach sky, the Alchemist boutique is a hovering glass box inserted into the fifth floor of a parking structure designed by Herzog and de Meuron. Inside, its reflective materials capture the colors and energy of the surrounding environment and make it is visible from many vantage points throughout Miami Beach.
For the pedestrians and commuters along Alton Road, the reflective ceiling and walls create a visual link between the urban context and the shop, thereby drawing them into the space. Conversely, while inside the space, the activity of the urban landscape below is brought in and inverted by the reflective ceiling. Colorful cars and people move along the ceiling above the heads of the store’s patrons.
At Alchemist, you’ll find an eclectic mix of uber high fashion styles from well known desigeners to emerging brands. This is not the place to find mass produced fashions. It is for the style specialist who buys by the piece and doesn’t expect to see it on another person.
You’ll find brands such as Delfina Delettrez, Martin Margiela, Rick Owens, Givenchy and Dior Homme, Chrome Hearts, Ann Demeulemeester and Dries Van Noten, Zero, Lucien Pellat-Finet, Chloe, D-Squared.
