The Art Fair ARCO Madrid is turning into one of the most important art fairs in Europe. If you see this year’s list of galleries and artists, you will understand the importance of this fair at contemporary art market. Madrid is generally known for its famous museum and galleries, and with ARCO Art Fair, the Spanish capital becomes also a place of artistic gathering, bringing collectors and galleries from all over the world. ARCO turned into a truly art collectors fair, where art sale brings all the art lovers to the main venue of the ARCO Art Fair Madrid. With three decades long tradition, ARCO Art Fair Madrid evolved into event that fosters artistic creativity, making Madrid a capital of contemporary art every February, and contributing to the economic and cultural development of this fascinating city. Last year, more than 100,000 people visited the ARCO Art Fair Madrid, definitely converting it to the artistic hub that brings together galleries, artists, collectors and art lovers. As one of the major art sale places in Europe in this time of year, ARCO is also an important art collectors fair, with dozens of galleries and artists represented. The ARCO Art Fair Madrid 2015 is generously supported by important corporations and private initiatives, such as La Caixa, Banco Sabadell, Platea, NH Collection, Gaggenau, Winsor & Newton and Beep, while the VIP Hall at the Fair is exclusively created by ZARA HOME.

The Program of ARCO Madrid 2015

The ARCO Art Fair Madrid 2015 Program is divided into three main parts: the General Program, Opening Section and the Solo Project Section. The organizers are highlighting the special connection that will be promoted between art markets of Europe and Latin America. With Colombia being a guest country of honor at the fair, special exhibitions will be organized for this occasion, such as the Adrián Gaitán exhibition at the Lope de Vega House Museum. The special section of galleries celebrating Colombian art, and selected by Juan A. Gaitán will be represented not only at ARCO Madrid’s main venue, but throughout Madrid as well. The Opening Section of the Program is dedicated to new galleries. This section is curated by Chris Sharp, and it will introduce new galleries to the ARCO Madrid audience. Therefore, for the first time before the Madrid audiences, many well-known galleries will be represented, such as: Sultana from Paris, with Pia Camil; Ani Molnár Gallery from Budapest, with Veronica Jakatics-Szabo and Györg Szász; Josh Lilley from London, with Vicky Wright and Belén Rodríguez; Antoine Levi from Paris, with Ola Vasiljeva, Kubikgallery from Porto, with Dalila Gonçalves; waterside contemporary from London, with Oreet Ashery, Libia Castro and Ólafur Ólafson; LETO from Warsaw, with Angelika Markul and Aleksandra Waliszevska; Gaudel de Stampa from Paris, with Jonathan Binet and Jessica Warboys; Michael Jon Gallery from Miami, with Yann Gerstberger.

Additional Program and Special Activities

This year, the organizers of the ARCO Art Fair Madrid paid additional attention to the strategies of developing and promoting art market and art sale. For this purpose, the organizers invited around 20 delegations from American museums to participate in the session where new ideas and projects will be deliberated. Many directors and curators from famous museums and galleries confirmed their presence, among others those from Tate Americas Foundation; Museo Tamayo; Philadelphia Museum of Art; Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit; Dallas Contemporary; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and others. In order to boost art sale and promote the fair as a truly art collectors fair, the ARCO Art Fair Madrid made an agreement with Fundación Santander, that will offer the First Collector Service to those interested in receiving advices on art purchases. Therefore, the ARCO Madrid 2015 will maintain its unique role of serving as a meeting point for galleries, directors of museums and biennials, curators and international collectors. The Solo Project Section of the art collectors fair will focus on the emerging Latin American contemporary artists. This segment of the Program will aim to include the wide range of critics and curators from Latin America to the art sale trends in Europe. This year’s fair will introduce the Region of Madrid ARCO Award, aiming to recognize the works of new creators at the fair. The winning pieces will be acquired for the Dos de Mayo Art Centre of the Region of Madrid.
