The New Curator for the Parcours Sector

This year’s curator of Art Basel’s Parcours sector will be Samuel Leuenberger. Through site-specific sculptures, interventions, and performances by renowned international artists and emerging talents, Parcours sector will engage with the historical neighborhood of Basel. Leunberger’s rich curatorial experience includes work with Stephen Friedman Gallery, the institution Kunsthalle Zurich, Pro Helvetia, a major live art exhibition 14 Rooms, the Department of Culture of Basel- Stadt and the interdisciplinary festival Les Urbaines in Lausanne. In addition, he has been running non-profit exhibition space SALTS in Birsfelden in Switzerland since 2009. Being very familiar with the city and highly active in its cultural scene, Leuenberger will be an excellent choice for the position of the third Parcours curator. The historical centre of the city will once again become activated by contemporary art and large-scale interventions and simple gestures will be presented to the broader public.
