Only six years later the Art Basel reached its current scope of approximately 300 exhibitors coming from 21 countries and nearly 40.000 visitors. In 2002 the Art Basel had its debut in Miami. Galleries and artists on exhibition were all from the region. The show was a reflection of the multicultural diversity of North- and Latin- America. The inaugural show in Miami became an immediate benchmark for art shows in the United States. The Art Basel Miami’s popularity goes way beyond the American borders. The show establishes itself as the premier destination in winter for the international art scene. Two years ago, Miami’s Art Basel celebrated its ten-year anniversary. To celebrate the occasion, the Frank Gehry-designed New World Symphony is transformed into a visual art screen. This year the Art Basel introduces ‘The Edition’ sector that focuses on the showcasing of art prints. For its launch ‘The Edition’ sector hosts 13 exhibiters.
