Alias of Jasmina Sevic, a researcher and author for Widewalls. She graduated from the Faculty of Political Science (Department for Journalism) in Belgrade in 2013.

Chris Uphues is a painter, street artist and designer living in Brooklyn, NY. Uphues’ pictoral language encompasses a range of ebullient and sinister creatures drawn from comic books, Japanese animation and design. He got his Bachelor of Fine Arts, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1994.

Uphues understands the fantastic energy force and formal variety present everywhere in products of everyday popular culture. His paintings and drawings are densely detailed compositions of stars, flowers, shapes, and cartoon-like faces that are inspired by a range of popular references such as the art of Keith Haring, Tony Fitzpatrick, and Karl Wirsum, comics from the 1950s and 1960s, Walt Disney, Osamu Tezuka, chinese opera, persian calligraphy, animation. Looking closely at his work it is full of wonderful and fantastic surprises. In addition to his thriving street art practice that includes putting hearts and cute doodle faces on everything from farm silos to city walls. Uphues also makes little printed goods painted in acrylic, a true juxtaposition amidst the often-disheveled doorways and concrete.

His work was included in many solo and group exhibitions in Chicago, Brooklyn, New York, Los Angeles and Hamburg, among others.
