Guo Fengyi is a Chinese artist who used to work in a rubber factory until she was 39, as she had to quit the job due to severe bouts of arthritis. Turning to an alternative medicine helped Guo discover her spirituality in Qi Gong, an ancient Chinese health care system that integrates physical postures, breathing techniques and focused intention. Guo Fengyi started experiencing visions that inspired her to draw. At the beginning, she embodied her visions on the old calendar pages but soon turned to rice paper she fulfilled Indian ink and brushes. This artist’s delicate lines and ghostly figures, like dragons, phoenixes, and faces are the result of her inner world connected to something greater than us.
