Guo Runwen is one of the most famous Chinese painters, best known for his oil-based portraits of Chinese common people, predominantly women, with slight touch of surreal or/and abstract elements embedded in his artwork such as floating baby “held” by a center figure of a woman.

Born in Zhejiang Province in 1955, he graduated from the Department of Stage Art of Shanghai Drama Institute in 1982 and received the Bachelor’s Degree.  In 1988, he completed the courses from the assistant teaching class of Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts.

Now he is professor and deputy dean of the Oil Painting Department of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, vice chairman of Guangdong Artists Association, specially invited research fellow of Artistic Creation School of China Art Institute, member of the Art Committee of Chinese Oil Painting Association, member of Chinese Artists Association.
