Li Mingzhu was born in Tianjin, China, in 1973. He graduated from the China Academy of Fine Arts Oil Painting Department in 1996. His ceramic series borrows from the Ming dynasty Cloisonné tradition of production, with painstaking attention to detail. He refigures production through the quotidian fixtures of modern Chinese life – purified water dispensers, closed circuit camera devices, and kitchen items reconfigured.
