Mikhailo Deyak is a Ukrainian artist known as one of the brightest and most vivid representatives of modern Transcarpathian School of painting. The basic elements of the Deyak’s works are the expressions, in which the delicate nuances of state of nature reflect his personal emotional experience. The freshness of his impressions is conveyed through the range of colors presented in his works.

Born in Zolotarovo village, Khusts region in 1984, Deyak graduated from A. Erdeli Uzhgorod College of Art in 2003. He was practicing under the watchful eyes of National artist of Ukraine V. Mykyta. In 2003 Deyak became a student of National Academy of fine arts and architecture. He worked the landscape workshop of Professor V. Zabashta, teached by the assistant professor I. Melnychuk.

His works are mostly landscapes and still lifes that use bright colours to evoke his affection for his environment and objects from the natural world. Western Ukrainian villages figure prominently in his work. His paintings captured at plain-air during his trips through Europe invite viewers to enjoy Venetian landscape, Paris urban sites and a port in Monaco. They are warm, pulsing like a living organism, filling the space with colour and vibration, ionizing the surrounding air. With an exhibitions and auction history of more than ten years, Deyak quickly gained national recognition in Ukraine.

He has participated in many solo and group exhibitions, and his works are in the public collections of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine and the National Museum of Ukrainian Art, as well as in many private collections in Ukraine, Russia, France and Canada.

Mikhailo Deyak lives and works in Kyiv, Ukraine.
