Philip Phil Morgan is an illustrator from Cardiff, South Wales. He is a self-taught artist with bold and colorful illustration style, with often added a touch of humor.
As this artist says, skateboarding has a huge influence on his work but so does his love for music. Morgan grew up skateboarding from the age of eight years old and he used to play bass in a band when he was younger. That experience changed completely his outlook on life. He does not play anymore but likes to pick up his guitar now and then, in the same way as he likes to go out riding a board.
Skateboarding actually got him back into his art about recently when he designed a bunch of skate graphics for his friend’s skate company called Crayon Skateboards. It was a dream of his to see one day his art on a wizz plank.
Morgan tries to add a lot of humor in his illustrations which reflects what type of person he is. He would describe his illustrations as characteristic with a lot of work based on fixed shapes, bold colors and strong lines.
Phil’s illustration work has been featured in magazines, on websites and has been used for t-shirt designs. Phil has also created adverts and designed skateboard graphics as well as having his work published in The Washington Post.
He is also a part of a group of artists the Human Pyramids Collective.
Philip Morgan lives and works in Cardiff.
