Polish artist Przemek Blejzyk, aka Sainer, is best known for his large-scale surrealist murals. There is a sometimes whimsical, often darker style of his work seen in the twisted bodies and elongated limbs. The artist's unique style is enhanced by the fact that none of his characters look at the public. They face away, their faces hidden in some way as if they do not wish us to see their sadness. Together with renowned Polish artist Betz, Sainer has created a duo called Etam Crew. They have left their marks on the walls all over the world, including Europe, Australia, Dubai, and the USA.

Discovering Street Art

Sainer was born in 1988 in Lodz, Poland. Even at a young age, he expressed a strong interest in art, growing up in the 1990s when there was no abundance of toys. Instead, kids in those days had to invent their own games and make do with what they had. In part, this was the most important lesson the artist received, for it constantly engaged his imagination. By 2005 he already had his first experience with graffiti. However, as he explains, his first love will always remain painting. The name Sainer was given to him by a friend, and he kept it to this day. Yet he only became an artist due to a knee injury that prevented him from pursuing a sports career. While in recovery, he used all his free time to paint and eventually decided to try to pass the exams for art school. Sainer said:

I first started doing graffiti as a hobby, mainly focusing on characters and sketches with letters.

Etam Crew

Following his passion, in 2012, he graduated from the Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts. Today he is an accomplished muralist, painter, illustrator, graphic designer, and draftsman. At the Academy, the artist met Mateusz Gapski, aka Bezt. They became close friends and decided to form the Etam Crew. The duo has worked successfully all over the world, collaborating on large-scale murals. Before they begin, a lot of time is spent formulating a plan and sketching. While Sainer paints people, Bezt's main focus is animals. It is only when they paint on canvases that they work separately. However, as a crew, they had numerous exhibitions, including Galimatias in 2015 at Thinkspace Gallery in Los Angeles, Bedtime Stories in 2014 at Varsi Gallery in Rome, and Ugly Heroes at Montana Gallery in  Barcelona.

Sainer's Exhibitions

The artist is inspired by multiple sources, from interesting movie characters to cartoons. Yet he always makes when he draws to make them uniquely his own. For a single mural, it takes 6-7 days. Sainer primarily uses spray paint, acrylics, rollers, brushes, and lifts. In 2022 he participated in a group show entitled Retransmission at Mirus Gallery in Denver. He has also showcased his work in several solo exhibitions, including Modulations (2019) at Brain Damage Gallery in Lublin and Chaotic Harmony (2017) at Openspace Gallery in Paris.

Sainer lives and works in Lodz, Poland.
