Ulfert Wilke was a German calligrapher and painter, best known for his large paintings and lithographs inspired by calligraphic writing. He belonged to Abstract Expressionism movement. Born in Bavaria, Germany in 1907, Ulfert emigrated to the United States in 1938. He died in Anahola, Hawaii, in 1987.
