Weegee was the pseudonym of Ascher (Usher) Fellig, a Hungarian-born American photographer and photojournalist, known for his stark black and white street photography.
Weegee was born Ascher (Usher) Fellig in Złoczów (now Zolochiv, Ukraine), near Lemberg, Austrian Galicia. His name was changed to Arthur when he emigrated with his family to live in New York in 1909.
