Carl Oscar Borg was a Swedish-American artist born in 1879, known for his landscape paintings of the nature of the southwestern United States, especially the states of Arizona and New Mexico.
Carl Oscar Borg arrived to the US in 1901 upon a commission to paint the cabin walls of a ship that was sailing across the Atlantic, and stayed in the States for the rest of his life. For a period of time, the artist lived among and documented Native American communities, creating images that were later honored for preserving the tribes' cultural heritage.
