Derrick Ofosu Boateng is a
Ghanaian artist whose photographic works, made with an iPhone, are emblematic
of the media mix. An avid fan of soccer, music, and the 7th art, he embodies
the youth of the continent. Greatly influenced by the Anglo-Saxon culture,
Boateng pushes the limits of color, depicting the scenes of daily life devoted
to "feeling good." These works feature characters that celebrate the black
body, haloed with bright, inspiring tones. Seeking to represent Africa through
a positive prism, he hopes to change the perception of the continent. The
artist feels that photography has the highest potential of reaching most people
in different parts of the world, shedding new light on Africa through
exceptional stories, brimming with emotion and life.
