Elisa
Carutti is an Italian contemporary artist whose paintings are inspired by
things we can’t prove whether they exist or not, such as faint in God or the
celestial phenomenon. She is attracted to astronomical images, always having
them in mind while she paints. Most recently, she introduced the human figure
to her work, placing it in the sky without representing it entirely. “It’s
always a fragment of a face, a single arm or a hand, as I want to paint like
things happen in a dream without a logic link, pieces of different scenarios
happening all at the same time without a chronological order.” She studied
Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera, earning her BA in 2014. After
that, she continued her studies at Slade School of Fine Arts, UCL, London, completing
her MFA in 2018. Elisa Carutti lives and works in Milan.
