in San Cristóbal, Táchira State, Garcia Contreras is a Venezuelan-Canadian
Civil Engineer and artist known for his sculptural work. Passionate about
construction and art, he started developing his artistic skills in wood carving
in 1992, also attending a workshop with the sculptor Miguel Ginzo. After
working with Gerardo Fernández in Caracas in 2006, Garcia Contreras found his
passion in bronze, sculpting life-sized works. In 2010, the artist moved to
Whistler, British Columbia, where he also began making minimalist, modern
figures that create optical illusions.
