John
Ketchell is a British contemporary motorsport artist widely known and
recognized for his impressionist, semi-abstract paintings. Strongly inspired by
speed, he has painted horses, aircraft, and speedboats, but cars remain his
first love. Ketchell originally painted in a photo-realistic manner but ended
being frustrated by the style. Being a fan of French impressionists, he thought
this new approach would be more suitable for capturing speed. Adding a touch of
abstraction allowed for more freedom in interpreting the subject matter, while
acrylics also suited this new style. John Ketchell quickly reached
international renown. He is often commissioned to create his fascinating and
easily recognizable works by many companies and private individuals.
