José Antônio da Silva was a Brazilian artist whose landscape paintings predominantly depicted the northwest region of the state of São Paulo. Considered a naïve or primitive artist, his early works featured darker colors, while he used a more vivid and varied chromatic range after 1948, creating lyrical landscapes.
