Katy Papineau is a British contemporary artist whose paintings and drawings depict scenes from various interiors and their imposing intimacy. She explores themes of theatricality, dressing up, and decoration within the home. Fairy tales, poetry, and literature influence the symbols, colors, and imagery she uses in her work. Papineau mixes her paint from pigment, often incorporating monoprint and collage into her paintings. She studied at the University of Bristol, where she graduated with first-class Honors in Philosophy in 2013, and in 2018 she started a year-long Specialist Degree at the Royal Drawing School. Katy Papineau lives and works in London.
