Kirill
Basalaev is a Russian contemporary artist who predominantly creates abstract
paintings. He also creates figurative pieces, such as portraits and floral
imagery. Relying on the term “ruination” (thinking of the urban environment as
the structure that is constantly crumbling), Basalaev focuses on the
relationship between a man and the city and their mutual influence. He studied
at the Faculty of Arts and Culture at Tomsk State University in 2009,
continuing his studies in 2014-2015 at the Institute of Contemporary Art in
Moscow. Born in Tomsk, Kirill Basalaev lives and works in Moscow.
