Kitikong Tilokwattanotai is a
Thai contemporary painter and printmaker whose abstract works are based on
capturing and memorizing his emotions. In his most recent series, the artist
uses a pictorial technique based on successive brushstrokes, creating
accumulations of the colored matter whose thickness varies. The transparency
and crystallinity of the layer of lacquer that he applies will then freeze
these sediments whose appearance and color will take the spectator into a state
of contemplation. Tilokwattanotai studied engraving at the University of Chiang
Mai. After graduation, he moved to Australia, earning a Masters in Art &
Design in 2003 from the University of New South Wales. He is the founder of
C.A.P studio - Chiang Mai Art on Paper, a fine art printmaking studio producing
limited edition, hand-made prints in collaboration with Thai and international
artists.
