Marcel Giró was a Spanish-born photographer and a pioneer of modern photography in Brazil, where he settled after leaving Spain. After the death of his wife Palmira Puig in 1979, he gave up professional photography and artistic photography, returning to Catalonia. During the 80's and 90's, he traveled with his partner Paquita Raigal and began to paint with a very close criteria to his photography works of the 50s.
