Margaux Derhy is a French artist who creates paintings, sculptures, embroideries, and drawings with deeply human psychological subject of matter. Her work addresses grief, healing, intimacy, the passage of life – themes she feels are strangely absent from contemporary fine art (even though they comprise so much of the subject matter of the contemporary film, photography, and literature). Self-taught, she began painting when she was 17. She has since received an extensive education which includes Cycle Intensif des Ateliers Beaux-Arts de la Ville de Paris (ABA), at atelier Gonzalo Belmonte, Paris, and Postgraduate Diploma in Art & Science (Fine Arts), from Central Saint Martins, London. Derhy is currently enrolled in MA in Painting at Royal College of Art (RCA) in London. She lives between Paris and London.
