Peter Cvik is a Slovakian contemporary artist whose works have been characterized by new media and architecture as their core structures. In his most recent works, he creates completely physical images, similar to photography or sketches, and begins to fully rely on his mind and memory. Inspired by his life, Cvik focuses on creating unique visual experiences by transmitting the virtual impressions of various landscapes from his travels onto the canvas. If the image becomes too detailed, he immediately intervenes by deconstructing it with lines and strokes, thus creating an entirely new painterly language. These blurred and distorted landscapes appear in their final form like abstract geometry charged with emotions. Peter Cvik has earned his BA, MA, and Ph.D. at the Academy of Fine Art and Design in Bratislava. Since 2013 he has participated in many group shows as well as exhibited his solo shows in Slovakia, Russia, and Austria. Based in Bratislava, he was an artist in residence in Paris, France and Leipzig, Germany.
