Raphael
Brunk is a German artist whose work can be located in the context of digital
photography, more specifically, algorithmic photography. These works are based
on visual constructions from the common image processing programs, while the
algorithm serves as a brush. Even in his earliest works, which culminated in
the exhibition at Galerie Droste in 2016, Brunk managed to surpass the
limitations of traditional photography by focusing on foreign and digital
realities. He studied Political Science, Philosophy, and Psychology at the
University of Koblenz-Landau. Since 2013, he studied at Kunstakademie
Düsseldorf under Professor Andreas Gursky, becoming his master's student in
2018. Raphael Brunk lives and works in Frankfurt.
