Steve Schapiro is an American photographer and photojournalist, known for his photographs of key moments of the civil rights movement such as the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom or the Selma to Montgomery marches. He studied under W. Eugene Smith, who not only taught him the technical skills he needed to succeed as a photographer, but also informed his personal outlook and world-view.
