Ted
Larsen is an American contemporary artist whose works are created with
minimalist ideas to explore the nature of materiality. Going against the norm
of trying to establish a single theme or overarching agenda, his studio
practice instead thrives within spontaneity and experimentation. Since 2001,
the artist has been using alternative and salvage materials in his work. Larsen
constructs his assemblages of detritus to re-purpose the materials and
re-identify their meanings. This use of purposed “non-art” materials forms the
basis for a constantly new kind of ready-made. A Pollock-Krasner Foundation
recipient, Ted Larsen received his BA from Northern Arizona University.
