A dilapidated house stood in the countryside, once a former nightclub. It was a huge building, a hazardous mix of neo-gothic and ancient Egypt covered with designs (graffi'). I roamed through it oOen photographing the ephemeral symbols. It was isolated, impressive, the pasteboard and the crumbling walls reminded me of the silence aOer the end of a produc'on shoot when the team has departed, and the set has faded into darkness even before being dismantled. I wanted to superimpose on those shadows other famous shadows in an exalted way.
