2017-2018;Mes vieux gants (my old gloves) is a work by French contemporary artist Cecile Raynal. This figurative sculpture is of a man standing on a wooden crate with a giant pair of boxing gloves. About this piece, the artist says: 'French writer Georges Perec wrote in Especes d'espace,' Life is going from one space to the next, trying your hardest not to bump yourself. 'Some box to put this maxim to the test. Edmard (the name of the man portrayed) boxed for a very long time and the gloves he entrusted me are proof of this.' This sculpture was exhibited in the Arts et Metiers museum in Paris between as part of the 'petites histoires en reserve' exhibition. It was created during Cecile Raynal's residency behind the scenes at the museum in 2017. As per her method, the artist created busts and standing figurines of the people she met as well as animal sculptures (wolves and foxes) recurrent in the works of the artist for a few years now.
