CHEN Yiching is a contemporary master of nihon-ga or traditional Japanese painting. This very demanding technique consists of using only the most natural of materials (wood, paper, rock, sand, bone) to create the artwork. The pigments, obtained thanks to minerals such as azurite or malachite, are mixed with glue (nikawa) made from the skin and bones of fish or other animals. The paper is glued to wood (marouflage technique).
