Inspired by a digital phenomenon, the Pink Paintings series revolves around a notion of abstraction. The parallel lines, so characteristic of the artist's work, imitate the result of a digital camera malfunctioning, with its hypnotizing deep purple. A tendency for figuration hides behind these distinctly abstract oil paintings and it surfaces by association of ideas; the light and the colour can create images of landscapes, buildings or even figures. For this series, the artist has chosen to work on canvas to accentuate the difference between her work and the digital images inspiring it. Here the organic contrasts with the austerity of the pixel.
