However, regardless of the often striking realism of his paintings, the artist's quest lies elsewhere: he seeks to create an aesthetic vertigo. "I always picture this quest as an analogy", he says, "that of being in the heart of a storm, and focusing on seeing its beauty despite the inherent danger." His works therefore echo more intimate things, becoming a common language between the artist's unconscious mind and that of the spectator, and connecting us to something that escapes us.
