Franco Salas Borquez is a Chilean artist who has been living in France for some twenty years. Born into a family of seafarers, he chose the sea as the sole subject of his paintings. However, regardless of the often striking realism of his paintings, the artist's quest lies elsewhere: he seeks to create an aesthetic vertigo. "I always picture this quest as an analogy", he says, "that of being in the heart of a storm, and focusing on seeing its beauty despite the inherent danger."
