He instills meaning into collected, fragmented, and often obsolete materials by crafting them with great complexity and rigor. Each work is made up of constituent parts, with his titles enumerating elements within the image. In De la Mora's feather artworks, each number specifies the amount of feathers which he meticulously applied one at a time to each canvas. The result presents as an optical illusion: while from a far his works may appear to be paintings, upon closer inspection it is clear that each is an elaborate collage.
