In the series 'The poller and exactor of fees,' Rico uses a square root sign, composed of reflective gold brass, as a frame to position the elements inside it. Rico abstracts the normal, logical flow of the square root equation, reimiagining this 'divine' factor and allowing himself a freedom of positioning of the objects in this piece. Rico says, 'My intention is to break down the logic of this mathematical operation and assume it as a blank canvas, in which the numbers of elements are only limited by their size, color, and shape.' - Gabriel Rico
