Rebecca Kerlin, director of Gallery Joe, Philadelphia, says about Peerna's work:
Jaanika’s drawings elegantly interact with architecture in a way that allows the viewer to feel their presence physically as well as visually. They are both vulnerable and powerful. Her choice and mastery of her materials gives her the freedom necessary to maximize her vision.

Beginning in the wake of hurricanes Irene and Sandy, this artwork was made by tightly clasping a bunch of colored and graphite pencils held by both hands, drawing forcefully as a single moving multi-lined force.
The aim was to capture the very moment when clouds turn into rain.
Works within this series have won Grand Prizes in two different international Drawing Triennials, and are found in many private collections worldwide.
