'Sometimes it's more fun to draw someone from the back at an interesting angle. Being a sculptor, used to working with my fingers in pink clay, I quite enjoy capturing an angle more than capturing "the thing". Our eyes can often be more entertained by the position of the person than the person. I love the two reds here...a reminder of how I had to teach myself about orange reds and blue reds years ago. I would purposely start a painting by telling myself 'you have to use both varieties and make them work!" There are many ways to entertain yourself with a bunch of colors (^O^)' -Jacquelyn Thunfors
As a longtime journalist, I recognized at midlife that words have their limit. If I could draw an idea....or make it in clay....I could not only look at it but share it with you, and with those whose books I cannot read, whose language I cannot speak.Ideas for me arrive from outer space. If they eventually do not go away and demand visibility,I become like a novice car mechanic. I make up the parts as I go along, trying to invent for you an innovative ride worth your precious time. Each car comes out almost ok.So, like a child, I try another one, just so I can SEE it.... plus see if you respond and want to talk with me, sharing an experimental ride.My color choices? DNA instinctual. I never knowingly choose one.My ancestors, long ago, arranged to do that for me ahead of time.Overall, it's not the product at the end of my production line that excites me. It's if my product reaches you, in silence, enabling both of us, in that moment, to share the joy of existence itself, from a mutual point of view.
