In this series, titled Ghost Portraits, an individual, long deceased, is represented through a collection of "saved" items - old photographs, a lock of hair, a hymnal, and so forth. As a rule, the life imagined was clearly a difficult one. Often mirrors are set inside the piece to nudge the viewers into seeing themselves in the life of others - it's how empathy is nurtured. Often old worn out shoes, as a metaphor for a tough life lived, are included. These works are subtitled: Lost Soles.
