ABOUT: A powerful, leaping lunge to save the game, but does he make it? "Match Point" is an explosive take on the decisive moment in sports, the controlled but struggled attempt seen in the athlete's facial expression and body movement, that can win or lose a match. The artist Max Zorn uses just a touch of emerald tape to give a little pop to the setting, but the overall time is set in sepia-tones for a more nostalgic feel. The heat is felt through the sun shining through the clouds and palm trees, as onlookers with wide-rimmed hats look on, holding their breaths and wondering what will happen next.
MEDIUM: This artwork is made from only layers of sepia-toned and colored packing tape on top of acrylic glass. The tape is hand cut by the artist, with no photo reference and no pre-sketch. The LED light behind the sheet of acrylic glass illuminates the different layers, creating different tones.
PROTECTION: All Max Zorn tape artworks are sealed air tight by a sealant and a permanent opaque back sheet behind it to prevent exposure to dust, dryness and humidity. LED lights are low-voltage to avoid any heat, and every artwork has a UV protected acrylic glass in the front. LED frame and CoA included.
