A collaboration between conceptual artist Tony Tasset and designer Jason Pickleman, the Pit Jacket is an iconic garment chiefly associated with stock car racing, here re-envisioned as a memento mori, a graveyard for failed, defunct, and bankrupt companies. Each sponsor whose logo is emblazoned on the garment is a now-dead company, from the controversial ENRON to the end-of-an-era Blockbuster. Tasset positions the objects as existing equally in the realms of fashion and sculpture. The jackets can be worn as actual jackets, or displayed as sculptures on their own or in groupings.
