Engraved monograms to the base 'H.S. C.E. J.E.S.' and dated 1697. Hallmarked (Seling 2007, hallmark number 180, makers mark number 1140), master circa 1599, died in 1643. In addition, a hallmark with the monogram C.W.R.H. Assayers marks

Hammered, chased and embossed decoration. Rosettes enclosed within elliptical cartouches to body and lid. A similar tankard by the goldsmith Daniel Sailer is in the collection of King Gustav V in the Royal Castle, Stockholm (Seling 1980, no. 143 with illustration)
