Bruntwood Reveals Plans for a Digital Art Space - to Open in Manchester City Centre in 2016
Digital artworks and digital art in general, require special spaces were the art can be exhibited; a special space where art can be conceptualized, created and developed. When it comes to the digital art, it’s not enough to have “traditional-type” of galleries, or a simple, modest studio. With digital art becoming quite popular and with the raise of the number of digital artists, new spaces for this important art movement are being built. We are still waiting for the opening of the Museum of Digital Art (MuDA), with first visitors to enter the museum in January 2016. Meanwhile, in the United Kingdom, another great digital art space is due to open in 2016. Family-owned property company Bruntwood has revealed plans for a digital art space in Manchester, within a new collaborative workspace building called Neo.
Bruntwood Neo Workplace
Manchester will soon have one of the world’s most renowned digital art spaces. Commercial property giant Bruntwood has finally revealed plans for its most evolved collaborative workspace to date, that will be located in the very center of Manchester. Construction works have already begun, with redeveloping a 15-storey, 52,000 sq ft building on the corner of Portland Street and Charlotte Street, formerly known as Bank House. The costs of redevelopment of the building are around £8m and it is due for completion at the end of 2016. The new complex will be called Neo, which comes from the Greek word neonate meaning a fresh, new, revived form. The whole scheme is designed to reflect the impact of new technologies on the changing nature of work. This type of workplace is quite important, since the United Kingdom does not have so many innovative workspaces.
What is Neo All About?
Designed by Bridge Architects, neo will house co-working spaces, event spaces, private studios, a communal lounge and kitchen, a roof terrace and a digital art space on the ground floor. The upper floors will feature open-plan office layouts with panoramic views across the city. Neo will provide innovative tech solutions and support services for all sectors, including the creative, media and digital industries, as well as the more progressive, creatively-minded businesses seeking a flexible and collaborative approach to the way they work. A dedicated on-site community manager will develop neo’s internal social network, running a program of events focusing on health and wellbeing, social networking and business support.
