Contemporary Landscape and Venetian Painting - Jernej Forbici at ART.FAIR Cologne

October 30, 2016
Deeply invested in contemporary art, Widewalls magazine aims to provide a unique experience for its readers in form of in-depth and quality journalism.

Among the artworks exhibited at Stand J12 of the 2016 ART.FAIR Cologne, belonging to Punto Sull’Arte gallery from Varese, Italy, there is a landscape painting that take us out the contemporaneity into a time of Venetian masters. We have Jernej Forbici to thank for this, a talented Slovenian artist who spent his university days in Venice, at Accademia di Belle Arti, and clearly got very inspired. The work on display, which we also included among the pieces to collect at this year’s fair, is a mesmerizing layered scenery painted with acrylic, reminiscing of historic works yet managing to evoke the spirit of the modern day as well. In Cologne, our Ana Bambic Kostov talked to Jernej Forbici about how this piece came to be, his thoughts and views on landscape and his future artistic adventures.
