Exhibition Will Mc Bride - A Legend of Photography
Will McBride (born 1931 in St. Louis, Missouri / USA, deceased 2015 in Berlin) studied painting, illustration and art history in New York and philology in Berlin. He worked as a reportage photographer of international reputation for German and international magazines and published numerous photo books. He came to Germany in 1953 with the US Army and stayed. In West Berlin he invented the "clique," which was melancholy and sought her pleasure. With this motif he became photographer of the new magazine twen and soon a star of his craft. The inclusion of his wife Barbara as a pregnant woman was a scandal. In the sixties he ran a huge studio in Munich, where the pictures for "Zeig Mal!" originated, the paradigmatic enlightenment book of the socially liberal rejuvenated republic.
